Surprise

So we had booked a trip to Hawaii with our timeshare over a year ago. We were going to go with some friends of ours but they ended up pregnant and due in November and we ended up pregnant as well. It was booked Oct 2-8. I thought that I had cancelled this trip some time ago. Well, apparently it didn't get cancelled. So if we don't go then we just loose our points. So we are going to Hawaii. :) I am actually really excited about going. Kevin's mom is going to go with us. The flights look good and we are heading to MAUI! We have asked to see if Danniqa can go and now we are just waiting to see. Hopefully she can miss a couple of days of school to go. It should be fun. Hawaii here we come.

Dr. appointment

I went to a doctor's appointment on Friday to have baby Drew checked up. I don't think it matters how many times I hear his heart beat, it is still so cool. Things are still going okay at this point. I did get in trouble a little because I haven't been checking my blood pressure at home. So I guess I better start doing it. Otherwise everything else is going well. It took a minute for her to find little man's heartbeat but she did.

Choir

So I joined a choir. It is called Utah Voices and it practices in Bountiful on Wednesday nights. I went this last week and LOVED it. The preformance will be Dec 20th. I am excited about getting to go each week and sing!

This is giving me some much needed me time. :)

BYU game

Danniqa got to spend the night Friday night. Her request for Dad to bring for breakfast Saturday morning was doughnuts. This is what dad brought home. There were BYU doughnuts for the game.

PS... Dad was not very happy with the outcome of the game.

Finger painting

On Sept 12 we did some finger painting. I made fingerpaint earlier in the day and then when Danniqa got home painting was done. Jana was not sure what to think of it at first. She didn't like it on her fingers. Even when she eats if she gets food on her hands she wants it wiped off or wipes it on her hands. So we wrote her name on a paper with tape. Danniqa wanted to do Drew's name so Kev taped that off.

After a while she started to have a little more fun.

What Jana ended up actually doing.
What mom and a little bit of Jana did. However, I found out the hard way I should have used either a tougher piece of paper or taken the tape off sooner. The paper ended up just ripping.
Danniqa did Drew's and we took the tape off while it was still wet. This one turned out better.
We had fun. But will redo it sometime soon on a tougher surface. It was fun and I think it will be cute in their rooms.

Feelings of failure

Yesterday and still somewhat today was a day I was absolutely feeling like a failure as a mother. Even though as I was having these emotions little girl and I were both dressed, her hair was done, we were feed, the dishwasher had been emptied, breakfast dishes where done, several work phone calls and emails had been taken care of and little girl was contently playing with her books.
I felt like I was failing my daughter. She is so sweet and so smart. I feel like I should be doing more structure activities with her each day and getting her out to experience new things. I feel like I am not doing enough to teach and guide her. (yes I know I keep going back and forth between past and present tense. It was more overwhelming yesterday but many of the emotions are still there.)
While feeling this way I stumble on someone's Facebook post which is a. Link to this article www.deseretnews.com/article/76560214/dear-sweet-mom-who-feels-like-shes-failing.html?pg=1
Let's see if that works:). Anyway it talks about how I am not a failure and that as a mom I am doing well. Then I also came across my friends blog post for Monday at www.thejoysofboys.com about prioritizing and also taking out time for me.
Today was a better day. I was quite productive including in work, house work, mom time, financial planning for this month, finding something for me time etc. However, because I didn't get one of the activities done with little girl that I wanted to get done I still don't feel like I did enough. There were 21 things on my to do list. I completed 19 so far today and I still am feeling like it isn't enough. What is wrong with me?!? Seriously, when I look at that on writing I think that I am being ridiculous.
Now the challenge will be to change my mind set. To start seeing everything I did get done and not what I didn't get done. So I didn't finger paint with Jana today, I did read to her several times throughout the day, go outside to play, tickled, kissed, sung to and held her, feed her, bathed her, read scriptures, said prayers and sung to her. It isn't like I ignored her completely, one thing didn't get done and we both survived. Why as a woman and a mother am I do hard on myself? Who knows. But my goal as of this moment is still to organize and make to do list, but also start seeing all the things I did get done and enjoying the time I do spend with my little one.

I know this seems like a downer of a post and somewhat rambling yet writing it out has assisted me with seeing it a little clearer.

Papa & Nana

On the 7th we met Papa & Nana at a park in Draper. That is pretty much half way so that neither of us had to drive all the way but we still got to see each other.

Danniqa wouldn't stop long enough to get a picture with Papa and Nana. When Jana saw Papa get to the park she stopped playing and ran to get a hug. She LOVES her papa. The girls had fun eating dinner and playing with papa & nana. Thanks Dad and Vicki!
